It’s been a while…Nov 12
Yes, I know, I haven’t posted anything in months. It’s been busy. I moved from Los Angeles back to San Francisco, and returned to work for the school that I taught at when I lived here before. I have to admit that part of the reason I haven’t written anything in so long is that I got a little bored, so I’ve decided that I’m going to change the topics and style a little bit. Originally, YikeDat was intended to be a resource for parents with young children, and I hoped it would be formal and fact-based in nature. That’s still the case, in part, but I’d like to be a little more casual and personal in my future posts. I’m going to be blogging about anything that comes to mind relating to childhood and education. I’m a teacher in a progressive preschool that uses the Reggio Emilia Approach to education (check out my entry on educational philosophies for more information on this). It’s a child-centered approach where the teacher’s role is to guid the children and help them expand on their own knowledge and skills in their own areas of interest. Reggio is a philosophy that I believe in whole-heartedly, and my entries will likely reflect that more from now on.
In other news, YikeDat has a whole new look! Check it out, and feel free to comment and let me know what you think.
I hope that you will all continue to read my posts, comment, ask questions, and discuss anything and everything that comes to mind regarding early childhood!
